Spectapro: Journal of Cultural Currents in Physical Education and Sport Evolution

Spectapro is a regional ASEAN open-access, peer-reviewed journal with a global reputation, dedicated to advancing scholarly discourse to explore the cultural, philosophical, historical, and interdisciplinary evolution of physical education and sport across societies.

Published biannually (June & December), Spectapro serves as a dynamic platform for researchers, educators, practitioners, and students from across Southeast Asia and beyond to engage in critical dialogue that bridges tradition and innovation, local wisdom and global perspectives, as well as movement and meaning.

The journal welcomes diverse academic voices and methodologies that reflect the rich cultural landscape of the ASEAN region while contributing to globally relevant, inclusive, and transformative practices in physical activity and education.

We encourage submissions in the form of empirical research, case studies, ethnographic reports, and critical reflections.

Aims & Objectives

  1. To explore the cultural and social dimensions of physical education and sport.
  2. To examine the evolution of movement practices across time and traditions.
  3. To promote dialogue between pedagogy, identity, culture, and embodiment in sport.
  4. To encourage inclusive and ethical practices that reflect global and local values.
  5. To support scholarly exploration of spirituality, meaning, and community through movement.

Focus & Scope
The journal publishes articles related to (but not limited to):

  1. Cultural, identity, and social inclusion studies in physical education and sport
  2. Curriculum innovation, pedagogy, and movement-based learning models
  3. Traditional games and indigenous knowledge in physical education contexts
  4. History, philosophy, and the spiritual-ethical values of physical activity 
  5. Media, technology, and sport representation in popular culture
  6. Policy, political perspectives, and social transformation through physical education
  7. Adaptive physical education and disability sport
